Much has changed since our last Games Update—the past two years have brought advances and challenges to the gaming industry and 2016 promises to usher in a myriad of new and maturing trends that will continue to define the market. While some themes remain constant, trends in entertainment such as streaming and eSports as well as technological development have created new and expanded opportunities. We see the most evolution in five key areas, which are the focus of this piece: Social 2.0, eSports, Asian Investment in the West, Game Monetization, and Virtual and Augmented Reality.
