The restaurant sector underwent significant digital transformation during COVID, as owners and operators rapidly deployed technology in order to establish a critical lifeline to customers. Today, owners and operators continue to face significant macro and industry specific challenges, even as the restaurant ecosystem has normalized and returned to pre-pandemic operating levels, with 750,000 locations and $876B in spend in 2023. Tech adoption priorities have shifted coming out of the pandemic, moving from "get me revenue" during the shutdowns, to "get my customer back in" coming through the COVID wind down, to "get me business efficiency" in the present as restaurants look to combat headwinds in a "normalized" operating environment.
